GOURMET BOERIE ROLLS WITH MUSHROOM, RED ONION AND BALSAMIC SAUCE

To help with this self-taught bachelor cookand founder of ‘Bachelor’s Kitchen Mzansi’, Simphiwe Banana and professionalchef, Robert Gunn have put together the ultimate bachelors’ ‘game plan’ to navigating their way around the kitchen as well as putting the love back into cooking. Here is one of their favourite and easy to do Gourmet Boerie Rolls that will impress the mates!
Ingredients
- 4 bread rolls, sliced and spread with margarine
- 30 ml sunflower oil
- 15 ml margarine / butter
- 2 large clove garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 250 g mushrooms sliced
- 45 ml balsamic vinegar
- 1 Knorr Chicken Stock Pot
- 45 ml red wine
- 40 g blue cheese
- cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Heat sunflower oil and margarine/butter in a pan and gently sauté the onion and garlic
- Allow to cook on a low heat to caramelise for about 10 minutes
- Add the button mushrooms and cook until tender, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Add the balsamic vinegar, Knorr Chicken Stock Pot and red wine
- Allow the Knorr Chicken Stock Pot to melt and stir well then remove from the heat
- Allow the Knorr Chicken Stock Pot to melt and stir well then remove from the heat and season with Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
- Serve the sauce and crumbled blue cheese separately and allow people to serve as they please
