EVENT NEWS: Food and Wine Pairing Dinners at Taj Cape Town
Taj Cape Town, known for its prime location in the epicentre of Cape Town, is also renowned for creating sophisticated culinary experiences for both overnight guests and visitors alike. From March until October 2020, guests can indulge in unique food and wine pairing dinners that are held in the recently renovated Mint Restaurant and Terrace, which spills out into St George’s Mall from the cosy confines of Taj Cape Town and boasts an exquisite open-plan show kitchen.
These specially curated pairing menus have been developed, not only to complement the wines, but also to push the boundaries of conventional pairings and promises to take you on a culinary journey to please all the senses.
A wonderfully magic addition to the evening, is that you will be personally guided through how each course, and it’s pairing, was created; by Executive Chef David Tilly. The journey of each dish and its paired wine will be poetically described to you and every sense will be enticed as you encounter these incredible pairings.
Wine farms such as Creation, Simonsig, Dorrance Wines, Tokara, Paul Cluver, Rupert & Rothschild, Anthonij Rupert Wines and La Motte, have been selected by Taj Cape Town’s sommeliers who have worked together with Executive Chef David Tilly and his team of chefs to create the perfect culinary experience for each of the selected wines. Each Food and Wine pairing session is designed for a limited number of guests, consists of a four-course dinner and costs R495 per person and includes a welcome drinks, canapes on arrival before leading to the 4-course pairing dinner.
